The Breakwater, Brixham

Trip Report

A good gathering to start the season and the sun was even showing it's face. On arrival at the beach the sea was flat calm and looking pretty clear. So a quick cup of coffee and everyone arriving on time. Bits of new kit appearing all over the place and questions of how much weight should I need were heard around the car park.

But anyway, 3 guided groups all kitted up and in for the first dive and straight off I realised it was not quite time for a lightweight hood, real ice-cream head for the first 20 minutes. A good first dive, 4-5m viz and the wildlife starting to move around. A few scallops in the bag, first of the season. Baby lobster and cuttlefish and a dogfish sighting. Unfortunately no dolphin though.

A quick turn around for dive 2, after a few weight adjustments and kit changes and off up the wall. A few old fishing weights collected up soon have enough for a 2 kilo block.

Back in the cafe for a "works" hot chocolate and a warm up. A good first dive of the season, a quick dash back up the motorway to watch England beat Ireland with a glass or two of the homebrew to celebrate. My thanks to everyone who turned up to take part.

Trip Details

The first dive of the season will be at Brixham Breakwater. The plan is to blow away the cobwebs from the winter with a nice couple of easy dives from the beach, sort out the dive kit and any other issues we all will have and then followed by one of those totally unhealthy "Works" hot chocolates from the Breakwater Cafe.

Meet at the cafe for 10am and probably on the road home by 3pm.
