East Shag Rock , Torquay

Trip Report

Everyone arrived at 8.30 as planned and the van was unloaded onto the slipway that we commandeered for the day, a boiling hot start and lots of briefings going on. The tide was perfect and the sea very calm with very little wind. Stuart and Andrea running a mix of courses and Kat and myself having the hardest course of the year, 2 rather lively 11 year olds. In we go and with viz of 6-8m and a nice sandy bottom no problems. Skills were rapidly and confidently completed and one new Junior Open Water with another hopefully catching up next weekend. Hopefully Fabian with his new camera will have a couple of pictures soon. And on the hottest day of the year so far Spike completed his drysuit course, whilst Peter and I were more than happy back in wetsuits. End of a really busy day and off for ice-creams.

Trip Details

The plan was a training day for different courses out of Meadfoot Beach Torquay diving around East Shag Rock. The tides were right for an early start and with predicted wall to wall sunshine for the day you could guarantee that all the usual dive sites would be full.
