Boat Dives, Bovisand

Fri 22nd October 2010

Trip Report

An early start to get don to Bovisand for 8.30, quick cup of tea and out we go on Red Alert, looking flat calm !! or so we thought. Just past the breakwater and things started getting a bit lumpy. First dive site and in we go for a drift along a reef. Brilliant viz and straight onto a big edible crab, in the bag. Loads of nudibranchs and other wildlife, dogfish, John Dory. 40 mins later and up we come to find it is getting a bit lively on top. Back in the boat and a Force 8 now forecast. Thank god for seasickness tablets. So back into the shelter of the coast for lunch and a totally flat sea with the sun shining down on us, you wouldn't believe how different. Dive 2 an hours slow drift and just 3 scallops in the bag. Loads of small life again and the bottom covered in old shells.

Thanks to Dave and Danny at Discovery Divers.

Trip Details

I have been offered 4 places on a boat with Discovery Divers out of Bovisand, Plymouth, this Friday for 2 dives cost £40. Down there for about 9am, time to be confirmed.

The dives will probably be reef/drift dives rather than wreck. You will need to be an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent with a DSMB and 2 tanks. I am able to offer kit hire at £35 for a full set which includes 2 tanks, with £4 per air fill or returned full.

I am on the boat but will be going purely for pleasure and photography, so no guided dives.

If you want a place get back to me asap.
